This site is a tribute to Jeanne Williams who sadly passed away peacefully on January 26th 2023 aged 101. She will be sorely missed by her family and the many friends she made over the years, both during her wartime service and later as an unforgettable figure in Farnsfield, Notts where she lived for over 50 years.
Jeanne was a gentle lady, with not a bad bone in her body. Many will remember her as the Dinner 'Dragon' at the Junior School in Farnsfield, where she covered the lunch period for 21 years. Jeanne never forgot her time in the WAAF as a 'Plotter', mainly in the Orkneys, and whilst serving joined the Royal Air Force Association to which she belonged throughout her life. Jeanne actively collected donations for the Royal British Legion, through the Poppy Appeal, each year and it is somewhat fitting she spent her final years at the RBL residential home at Bexhill on Sea, very close to where she was born.
It is a sad day when someone so wonderful and caring passes. Her memory will live on though through all those who have been fortunate enough to have met her.
To a very special Godmother. Many many early memories of family holidays on the beach, where we stayed all day, regardless of the weather! With donuts, sausage rolls and long walks to Beachy Head (Eastbourne) or watching the daily puppet show shouting 'What are you doing now Mr Punch..?' (Filey). Then more recently, all our Friday afternoons together, since your move to Mais House. Lovely times strolling along the promenade (Bexhill) sitting in the sunshine 'people watching' and putting the world to rights! Dearest Jeanne, I really miss you, and hope you are at peace. You will never be forgotten by all those you knew you! With love Jan x
Thank you Auntie Jeanne for your great positive attitude and being a wonderful role model. We always enjoyed our conversations trying to put the world to rights over a cup of coffee and cake. Much love Chris & Ursula xxx
